Vocational Visit to the Abandoned Husbands Brew Club of Waimate.

Members of which include Kieren Henshaw, Nick Schumacher, Craig Robertson and Rotarians Dylan  Murray, Ryan Luckman and Matt Simonsen.

Throughout the day, we were exposed to the sounds and smells of malted grain mashing and sparging; the raw aroma of hops and the furious boiling of worts as two separate brews made their way into the world.

And one of these brews; Santa Paws packs a solid, roasty backbone from the blend of eight different malts used in its creation. *Deep breath* Extra Pale, Munich, Dark Crystal, Flaked Oats, Carafa Spec3, Amber, Brown and Weyermann Oak Smoked malt give a robustness to the base, and a rousing depth to the finish. And at 4.5% abv, this companion is one you can enjoy for longer periods than most.

The 4-5 hour process of making this beer was punctuated with small tastings of some of the AHBC product. From Shadow Creeper Imperial Stout to Summit Indian Pale Ales; to Golden Citrus Blonde and Golden Waka and Dark Matter American Pale Ales; amongst others. And lets not forget the anarchy of the Jackhammer and Crew Brew IPAs, blitzing the mediocre, raising hell and revelling in the aftermath of pure extreme bitterness!

Thanks to Pip and Pauline for providing some exquisite food to match the beer.

And thanks to the AHBC for hosting us.  Cheers!
