A few words from Alan
This week’s Meeting: It will be a relaxed affair with Michael running the show. Club night with committee reports and Fellowship is the theme. This week’s meeting also doubles as our regular Board Meeting. This will be done on-line via Skype so will mean our Execs and Director’s will head off a little earlier for the Skype call to start at 7:30pm.
Alan at Rotary: While my own personal view is that the Covid situation is being overplayed to suit the lowest common denominator like others I cannot put my team, my family nor the business I work for at risk.
This means, unfortunately, that you won’t see me at Rotary until the country gets to Level 1. Government Level 1 means my company will be at Level 2 which will allow me the freedom to come back to Rotary physically.
I do apologise for my absence and please know this was not in my own playbook when I ventured into the Presidents role. It is however what it is and we will manage it accordingly with a dose of pragmatism sprinkled with some reality but always with behaviour above the line.
I thank all of you who are doing more in this fractured landscape and continue to be impressed and amazed at your generosity of time and expertise to continue to make the process work. This is one of the reasons why I am a Rotarian. What is the most important thing in the world – He tāngata, he tāngata, he tāngata.
So you can understand how things are running at my site at Studholme, as below is a snippet of the current controls we are under. Essentially we are under Level 3 for all of our operations.
Timber for Charity: In the same paddock as the Pine Cone Drive, pics below of your President Alan with Joel, one of his team from Fonterra Studholme, have all but finished ringing the 6 large trees. Joel was especially helpful with his oldie but goodie Husky 121cc saw with a 45 inch bar. Much needed on some of the bigger timber.
Hats off to Joel, he was only too happy to lend his time experience and hardware to the task once he knew it was to support charity. Thanks Joel.
