Our exchange student Calix Benjamin gave his official farewell speech to the club, sharing some memories and thoughts of the year that he has spent with us.    Calix's other family members had travelled on student exchanges, and Calix had wanted to share in the adventure.  A keen interest in the natural environment meant that New Zealand had always appealed to Calix.   Much of the exchange was hosted by rural families, and Calix had exposure to dairy, sheep, and arable farming.  Between farm chores, school, and organised trips Calix was too busy to ever feel homesick.   Calix was always eager to help our club in our service projects and fundraising, and was diligent at attending our Thursday meetings.    Calix finished his speech by thanking his host families, President Sharyn and Rotarian  Adam Rivett, who was Calix's main contact with our club. The five host families were represented at the meeting. 

 

Adam finished the night with a thought of his own, recommending that people should grasp with both hands every opportunity that is given to them.
