Old Prescription and Sun Glasses
We are collecting spectacles and sunglasses for the South Pacific. Even though this is a Lions New Zealand project it is a very worth while cause to support. Children’s glasses are especially needed. All unwanted spectacles are sent to a processing centre where they are sorted, checked for scratches, cracks and screws tightened before they have their prescriptions recorded. They are then packed for delivery to Volunteer Ophthalmologist Services in the South Pacific.
Hearing Aids
If you have any old hearing aids lying around, we need them! “Free to Ear” is an organisation run by Bay Audiology that collects old hearing aids, repairs them and then qualified Audiologists take them to Samoa where they run clinic’s and hopefully restore the joy of hearing to the people of Samoa.
Bread Tags
Please do not throw away those little plastic bread tags, we want them. They are collected and recycled into seedling trays which in turn are sold and the proceeds are then used to purchase wheel chairs in South Africa.
Aluminium Wine Bottle Tops
Yes, we want these as well, so get drinking lol. These are collected for Kidney Kids, which are then on sold to recyclers and the funds raised are passed on to the Kidney Kids Support Group.
So start collecting these and bring to Rotary and give to any Inner Wheel member, Raewyn, , Pauline, Rebecca, Ailsa or Bev
