A few words from Alan
This week’s Meeting: Yet another ‘Cook–Off’ has come around. We are all looking forward to sampling the fine fare that Mark and his Community Services team invent this week. The gloves are truly off with the ‘trash talk’ from Russell about the outstanding meal he and his team cooked on the 17th – yes it was good…but… the question remains, was it better and can it be bettered? Haha, only time will tell.
And please bring some dosh, coin, banter and fellowship as we have the famous Inner Wheel shhsh (silent) Auction this week also.
Allan Laurie and the Bush Town Working Bee roller coaster continues… with the completion of the cladding of the last of the two bridges. It was a very nice morning on Saturday with the Bush Town committee and supporters very visible at the working bee along with some of our own Rotarians and Waimate Lions club member’s working a respectful distance apart. Job was done and dusted before lunchtime with the bridges now ready for the train rails to be attached and the track loop completed.
Last Week’s Talk: I felt Leonie Guiney was inspirational last week. Especially the references she made to guide their children to reach their potential. The children taking on challenges from investing to bartering to being family. The connection with the town they choose to live in and help to shape for the future. That coupled with her faith and also her personal courage in taking on a senior role in NZ’s largest company at board level speaks to the depth of potential and capability that she has. All strength to her.

Reminder: Thank you to those of you whom carry out your Fellowship and Stewards duties brilliantly well, you are shining a light for those who do them less than brilliantly well… J
Also, remember that if you are scheduled to be on duty but are going to be away please ask someone to stand in for you as it helps everyone in the long run.
