Felt really proud representing the club as MC for the recent DG Changeover.
Great people all there from right across the 9980 district. More than half of the room with our very own Rotarians and many with their families and partners to see Tania pass the baton to Dylan. Both of whom are very worthwhile and capable DGs. I personally look forward to working with Dylan and also Raewyn in her capacity as Deputy this year and know that they will support us well. One of the many highlights of the day was seeing Sharyn pick up the award for membership – a testament to the healthy position we are in regards a growing and successful club.
Some of the common themes from both Tania and Dylan were friends, participation, service, team, flexibility and kindness.
Thanks to all for sticking with me during the presentation of my vision and teams last week. It has taken a bit of time to get it to where it is and hopefully it will provide the roadmap going forward for a successful year ahead. I am really looking forward to seeing what our committees can do through the year and also am really excited for Week 2 with the Committee cooking competition.
Looking forward to Marlene’s talk this week where she will share a little bit of herself also it is getting very exciting to watch our various committees getting their meetings underway and reporting on progress already.
CLUB NOTICES
Fonterra have kindly offered a heap of cut down trees, as rounds, to our club to cut up for firewood and sell as a fundraiser. Mark Shefford will be in touch with details of some days to do working bees in the next 3 weeks.
Fonterra have also offered to work with our High School Honorary Members to do a pine cone drive fundraiser - to liaise with President Alan

Photo - At the recent District Governor Changeover the District Awards were presented by outgoing DG Tania. Waimate won the Membership cup for highest nett gain of members for the year. Thanks to those who talk about our club and Rotary, sponsor and mentor new members, and make all our members feel welcome as part of our whanau. ROTARIANS OUT AND ABOUT
Photo - A group of our Rotarians headed up to the Rotary Club of Timaru Changeover, held at the Timaru Town and Country Club. The theme for the evening was sports as we congratulated Bev and her team on a great year, and welcomed new President Jess and her crew. Lovely night catching up with old friends and meeting new ones. President Alan and President Jess are already in talks about joint projects so watch this space.
Photos - Some Rotarians were spotted out and about in the weekend doing a little "shopping". In all seriousness though - local business owner Mandy Tangney held a very successful day gifting away over 75 dresses from her shop in exchange for items for our local food bank. Inner Wheel provided the hot drinks and sweet treats during the day and some Rotarians were either helping or supporting the cause. A couple of dresses have been selected to be repurposed in to wee gowns for babies born sleeping, and there will be a community sewing day coming up to make this happen. More details to follow.
